Plaster Masks – Grade 6 research task on a famous artist
Grade 6 students were given the difficult task of choosing any artist they wanted, studying their style, content and history and using one piece of the famous artists work as inspiration for their own plaster masks. To begin I showed them the PowerPoint below, discussing some of the artists in more detail to give them a starting point.
The masks were easy to make. They wrapped modroc plaster strips over a plastic mould before painting diligently. The mask had to be different to everyone else’s by adding an attachment made from wire, metal or pure plaster.
Here is a close up of the grade 6’s amazing masks!
